Who We Are 

Women Leaders for Climate Action (WLCA) founded in 2021, is an impact-driven womenled local nonprofit organization aimed at enabling and empowering the enterprise and leadership of African women in climate action. WLCA advocates for climate finance access, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable livelihoods, supporting Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and rural communities severely impacted by climate change

With a strong membership comprising leaders from both the public and private actors, WLCA’s activities are guided by a dedicated secretariat and overseen by our  board members.

The WLCA Sustainability Training focused on equipping women with practical knowledge and skills to lead climate action. It created a collaborative platform for women changemakers to share ideas, strengthen climate-smart solutions, and drive sustainable development. The training emphasized advocacy, policy influence, and innovation, ensuring participants are empowered to address environmental challenges in their communities. Ultimately, it reinforced WLCA’s mission to position women at the forefront of building a greener, more resilient, and sustainable future.

The Women in Sustainability workshop, under the YESLP, equipped young professionals with practical knowledge and skills in sustainability, climate action, and leadership. It brought together diverse participants to explore systems thinking, ESG, green finance, and advocacy. Through real-world case studies and collaboration, the training strengthened their ability to drive climate-smart businesses, influence policy, and develop innovative, eco-friendly solutions for building resilient and sustainable communities.

The Economic Resilience Pathways Webinar Series launch by WLCA introduced a platform to amplify women’s leadership in climate action, green innovation, and inclusive economic growth across Africa. The event highlighted the critical role of women in driving climate-smart solutions and shaping a just transition. Speakers and panelists shared insights on building resilient enterprises, transforming value chains, and overcoming systemic barriers. The launch also spotlighted initiatives advancing sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, and ecosystem restoration. Ultimately, it marked the start of a collaborative movement to unlock investment, strengthen partnerships, and position African women at the forefront of climate resilience and sustainable development.

The event was graced by esteemed high-level guests, including our Patron, Her Honour, The Vice President – Mrs. W.K. Mutale Nalumango, MP, and brought together leaders, partners, and change makers committed to driving women-led climate action.
